Hong Kong Reopens after three years
For the first time in three years, the border between Hong Kong and mainland China has reopened fully, taking steps to restore the city’s position as a global business hub. Hong Kong will give away more than 500,000 air tickets to bring in much-needed visitors in 2023.
Qantas A380s return to Hong Kong
Qantas is set to significantly boost Sydney’s capacity to Hong Kong in the coming months, with its current four weekly A330 services transitioning to daily A380 superjumbo flights.
Emirates operates test flights with 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel
Emirates has become the first passenger airline in the world to use a Boeing 777 powering a GE engine with 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel. The demonstration flight comes after the airline declared its focus for 2023 as sustainability, showcasing its commitment to innovative solutions to climate change.
Delta Airlines has announced its first ever Los Angeles to Auckland route
The nonstop service debuts on 30 October 2023, making Delta the only U.S. carrier to link the two cities. Delta also announced a new Alanta-Nice route and added more Paris and Tel Aviv services.
Emirates boosts flights to Dubai from Sydney and Melbourne
Emirates introduces a third daily service to Dubai from Sydney and Melbourne. Sydney will introduce a third non-stop link, with EK417 taking off from 1 May 2023. Melbourne will see the launch of EK405 on 26 March 2023.
Qantas in talks over flights between Paris and Perth
Nonstop Boeing 787 flights between Perth and Paris are back on the radar. Air France and Qantas are discussing the possibility of launching direct flights between Perth and Paris, along with additional European destinations.
Cathay Pacific reopens the Singapore lounge this month
Cathay Pacific will unlock its Singapore Changi T4 lounge doors on 22 February 2023 as the airline rebuilds its lounge network. Business class passengers and lounge-worthy Cathay Silver, Gold and Diamond members will have access to a wide range of seating along with a selection of dishes and the buffet.
Cathay Pacific reopens Hong Kong business lounge
Following the border reopening between Hong Kong and mainland China, Cathay Pacific has reopened its business class lounge, The Deck, joining The Wing and The Pier at Hong Kong International Airport Terminal 1, which both reopened at the start of January.
