Virgin Australia Melbourne Lounge updates
With Virgin Australia’s Melbourne Airport lounge closed for renovations, the airline has now opened two temporary lounges at Melbourne Terminal 3. The Melbourne Domestic Temporary Lounge will reside in the airline’s original The Club lounge, previously reserved for invitation-only passengers, and is available for Business Class and Platinum Velocity members. A Melbourne Domestic Pop-Up Lounge is located to the right of the VA check-in area and is available for Gold Velocity and lounge members. The pop-up lounge is a silent lounge, meaning they do not announce flights. There are, however, arrival and departure boards.
Qantas Double Status Credits plus bonus points offer
In celebration of the trans-Tasman bubble opening, Qantas is offering Frequent Flyers Double Status Credits and 5,000 bonus points on eligible flights between Australia and New Zealand. Simply book via your usually Corporate Travel Management (CTM) booking process by 11.59pm AEST 15 May 2021.
Qantas to launch new QantasLink routes from June
QantasLink will debut non-stop flights between Canberra and Darwin from 21 June, along with a new Adelaide-Gold Coast service from 25 June. The routes will operate using E190 aircraft, offering 10 seats in business class and 84 in economy class.
Singapore and Hong Kong announce travel bubble
A travel bubble between Singapore and Hong Kong will commence from Wednesday 29 May 2021, with quarantine-free travel established between the two Asian business hubs. A daily service is expected to start from 9 June, providing that no further outbreaks occur in either city.
Australian and New Zealand travel bubble takes off!
Almost 60 flights across the Tasman were scheduled on day one of Australia and New Zealand’s travel bubble. Air New Zealand. Qantas and Jetstar Airways collectively helped an estimated 10,000 passengers cross the borders.
New Qantas flights from Coffs Harbour to Brisbane
Qantas’ new route between Coffs Harbour and Brisbane has taken off, providing more connections between the New South Wales coast and Queensland. Qantas will operate four weekly return flights with a Q400 aircraft, adding around 600 seats on the route each week.
Australia and New Zealand make UK ‘green list’
From 4am Monday 17 May, Australia and New Zealand will transition to a new ‘green list’ of countries considered safe for travel by the United Kingdom. When arriving in the UK from a green list country, travellers will not be required to quarantine in a hotel or at home but will need to take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 of arrival. Please be advised that travel restrictions are still in place for Australians and New Zealanders wishing to travel overseas, please check CTM’s COVID Hub for current advice.
